MOEBIUS PLANK NEUMEIER

Zero Set (40th anniversary edition). Out December 8, 2023

"Zero Set" is three masterminds of Krautrock together on one album. Dieter Moebius (Cluster, Harmonia), Mani Neumeier (Guru Guru), and ledendary sound engineer Conny Plank (too many projects to name them) recorded this dark electronic and "motorik" piece in 1982. This great album is a must in every Krautrock record collection. For the 40th anniversary of the album we're making a limited white vinyl edition, hand numbered, 500 copies.

SUPERSEMPFFT

Metaluna. Out November 17, 2023

The avant-garde Kraut ensemble Supersempfft laid the foundation for their techno-tropical pop music in 1979 with their debut album "Roboterwerke." MARTIN REV

The Sum of Our Wounds (Cassette Recordings 1973-85). Out October 20, 2023

The archetypal Martin Rev sound – a perennial influence on generations of musicians – is most prominently in evidence in the works of Suicide, the duo he played in across the decades with with Alan Vega. However, the radical and distinctive nature of his music can be traced further back in time, originating in the base energy of rock'n'roll which the teenage Rev experienced as the ubiquitous soundtrack to his home city of New York.

STATION 17

Oui Mixe. Out September 8, 2023

"Oui Bitte" is the eleventh studio album by Station 17 and was recorded in Forellenhof, Nordhastedt - North Germany. With tired eyes, the collective usually sat together into the early hours and listened to the takes that the day's work had produced. The compelling rhythm, the supreme discipline of the band founded in 1989, has always been inherent in their work, and with the housy "Hausmann" a collective wish arose: here we need a remix! The desire then grew and spread over the entire album ... "Oui Mixe", out on September 8th, contains seven remixes from people like Pantha Du Price, Ada and Efdemin.

Gespensterland. Out August 18, 2023

Over the last ten years a strange mycelium was sprouting from the ground of Germany's sound topography, going widely unnoticed while creeping its way up through the copse of the ubiquitous "Neo-Kraut", "Diskurs-Pop" and the like. We're talking about a small underground network of artists and projects with poetic, mysterious names such as Brannten Schnüre, Baldruin, Kirschstein, Freundliche Kreisel and Balint Brösel. Operating in the margins and intersections of folklore, experimental electronics, dreams and nightmares, the "Gespensterland" LP archives and compiles their magic works for the very first time and already today it stands as a contemporary testament with an auratic presence comparable to that of Pordenone's "Great Complotto".

Their second for Bureau B and the eighth in a career as an internationally active collective of musicians which has spanned two decades (so far). V.A.

Klar!80. Out July 14, 2023

KLAR! 80: a label with no program. This compilation represents an initial – and long overdue – foray into the years 1980 - 82, when KLAR! 80 was a cassette label, paired with a shop of the same name in Düsseldorf. Founded by Rainer Rabowski, KLAR!80 released 18 cassettes of varying length and a box set containing three 12" vinyl Eps which fetch handsome prices among collectors nowadays. The "KLAR!80 - Ein Kassettenlabel aus Düsseldorf 1980-1982" collection reaches even further back in time than the "SAMMLUNG - Düsseldorfer Kassettenmusik 1982-1989 (BB236/2017)" collection, similarly curated by Stefan Schneider, which focused on the mid-1980s Düsseldorf cassette scene. It captures the brief period between the end of punk and the looming capitalisation and digitalisation of so many aspects of life.

Zeus B. Held

Attack Time. Out June 23, 2023

With 'Attack Time' by sound tinkerer Zeus B. Held, Bureau B is re-releasing one of the most exciting records of the original experimental Kraut-pop period. After various stints, including prog band Birth Control and underground dance tipple Gina X Performance, he also put out a string of solo releases. 'Attack Time', originally released on Aladin in 1981, gave Zeus B. Held the opportunity to experiment sonically outside the mainstream and subversively undermine the hegemonic MTV sound of the early 1980s. Unfortunately, the album was a commercial failure at the time. So it's all the nicer that it's now being brought out into the world again with all its supposed contradictions between enraptured New Wave, cosmic electronics and weird rock grooves.

Silberland Vol 2 - The Driving Side Of Kosmische Musik 1974-1984. Out June 16, 2023

Welcome to Silberland – where the streets are paved with strobes. Home to neon lights, straight lines and open roads, this futurist fantasy was first founded in the mid-seventies, when Germany's creative class chose musical therapy in order to indulge their shared hallucination of a new Europe. Fuelled by the catalytic fusion of globalisation and new technology, the world was turning ever faster and the kosmische generation were ready to keep the pace. With synthesisers, rhythm computers and human metronomes turned to a gallop, these electronic innovators set modernity to a motorik beat, and Bureau B's second trip into Silberland cuts right to the thrust of the genre.

CV VISION

Im Tal der Stutzer. Out June 9, 2023

You might've caught CV Vision in Berlin, either on stage or behind the mixer at some of his favourite clubs like Arkaoda, Heiners or O Tannenbaum. He could be accompanied by synths, or drum kit, or even full band – channelling his love of Bo Hansson and Claude Larson, or Soft Machine and Picchio dal Pozzo. Always heavy on the backbeat, the songs awash with heady synths and expansive psych inversions. Taking inspiration from deep in the mediaeval mists of times long past, CV Vision comes riding over the hills like a knight to the rescue, and his new album "Im Tal Der Stutzer" is packed full of galloping drums, feudal prog riffs and poetic lyrics harking back to a golden age.

STATION 17

Oui Bitte. Out May 19, 2023

After a period of distance Station 17 just wanted to stand in a room together again and make some music, so they drove out of Hamburg to a remote site in the hills of the Hohe Geest in Schleswig-Holstein and played some new song sketches together – all day and late into the night. Afterwards they wanted to play the results live at a concert in Fabrik, a venue in Hamburg. No one in the band expected that the sessions would result in an entire album, but the music told them once again: what had been created here in the radiance of the moment could not be reproduced. A moment of happiness for the band collective. "Oui Bitte", Station 17's 11th album had been born – quite unexpectedly, between pool and trout pond.

CONRAD SCHNITZLER & KEN MONTGOMERY

CAS-CON II - Konzert in der Erlöserkirche, Ost-Berlin, 3.9.1986. Out May 12, 2023

As part of our series "Experimental Electronic Underground GDR", we are very pleased to be able to make a very special recording available again. On the evening of 3.9.1986, the privately announced and illegal concert took place in the Erlöserkirche in East Berlin/GDR. Montgomery mixed Schnitzler's music live from the tapes. Jörg Thomasius recorded the performance and released the recording in 1987 on his own underground cassette label Krötenkassetten. The elaborately restored original recording is now being released for the first time on LP and CD under the title "CAS-CON II". In addition to photos and contemporary documents, it also includes Jörg Thomasius' and Ken Gen Montgomery's written memories of this very special evening.

TIN MAN

Arles. Out April 28, 2023

Renowned acid cosmologist Johannes Auvinen, best known by his alias Tin Man, leaves the club floor behind for a full-length kosmische excursion on Bureau B. Since his first Tin Man records nearly 20 years ago, Auvinen has impelled acid – in the grand tradition of Phuture and co. – into shapes and forms heretofore uncharted. He does it again on his latest, "Arles," exploring a new realm of impressionistic beauty where pristine, heartfelt melodies dance delicately atop austere motorik rhythms. It's a trip you'll want to take again and again.

CEL (FELIX KUBIN & HUBERT ZEMLER)

Gegenwelt. Out April 21, 2023

Gegenwelt (Parallel World) is the second LP by CEL, a duo Kubin and Zemler formed. More melodically-evolved than their eponymous 2020 debut, it is an even more explicit example of the syncretic impulse that impelled these guys to form the band. Their basic notion was to explore the juncture between two streams of German underground sounds -- the Motorik 4/4 rhythms first posited by Can's Jaki Liebezeit and Kraftwerk's Klaus Dinger, and the sequencer-driven brain loops of early, experimental pioneers of the NDW, such as der Plan.

HARALD GROSSKOPF

Oceanheart (ltd. deluxe edition). Out April 7, 2023

In 1984, four years after the release of my first solo album SYNTHESIST on SKY Records, I wanted to produce a new solo album. At the time I was operating on the fifth floor of a former backyard factory on Graefe-Str. in Berlin Kreuzberg with my Neue Deutsche Welle Band LILLI BERLIN. We'd turned the space into a small music and rehearsal studio where we set up a TASCAM 8-track tape recorder, a 12- channel MM mixer that roared like hell, a Mini-Moog and a ROLAND Jupiter-6 synthesizer. This is where the basic recordings for OCEANHEART were made. Essentially sequences and chords, which I then added piano, drums, Indian tablas and solo voices to in Christoph Franke's (Tangerine Dream) studio in Berlin Spandau. It was then mastered on a BETAMAX video recorder – at that time the non-plus-ultra of modern stereo recording technique. Oceanheart was released on SKY Records in 1985.

Echo Neuklang. Out March 31, 2023

Christoph Dallach, Andreas Dorau and Daniel Jahn present Echo Neuklang, a compilation which explores the question of how Krautrock has influenced generation after generation of musicians since its inception. A contentious genre at the best of times, the music within its spectrum is essentially intangible. The common thread running through it is a compulsion to seek out the new. Beginning in the year 1981 and extending as far as 2023, the music in this collection demonstrates how the idea of what passed for Krautrock in the 1970s has been interpreted or reinterpreted by a diverse array of artists with distinct approaches in the decades which followed, without recourse to any generic conventions.

DIE WILDE JAGD

ophio. Out February 24, 2023

For eight years now, songwriter and producer Sebastian Lee Philipp has been steering his project Die Wilde Jagd through the field of tension between contemporary electronic music and avant-pop. Between 2015 and 2020, three studio albums were produced as documents of Philipp's rigorous musical creativity. Most recently, "Atem", a composition for Roadburn Festival, was released in 2022, documenting yet another, more experimental side of the project. On the new, eagerly awaited fourth album, all these multi-faceted worlds are brought together in an impressive way.

TOLOUSE LOW TRAX

Leave Me Alone. Out January 27, 2023

With "Leave Me Alone", Detlef Weinrich presents his fifth album under the moniker Tolouse Low Trax. Weinrich, who has meanwhile turned his back on Düsseldorf and lives in Paris, has long since ceased to be an insider tip and is a guest in renowned clubs and festivals all over Europe. With his new album, he succeeds in an exciting, unforeseen new direction. The velvety heaviness and rawness of earlier records seems to have given way to a new playfulness. A playfulness perhaps in the sense of an electronica reminiscent of the late 1990s, which in its idea of deconstruction and reduction is currently enjoying a new appreciation in the clubs. But also in the sense of an urban vibe of hip hop and dub references, which are woven into a very unique mix in Weinrich's tracks.

HARMONIOUS THELONIOUS

Cheapo Sounds. Out January 20, 2023

A pivotal figure in Düsseldorf's Salon Des Amateurs, Stefan Schwander has already amassed a remarkably rich musical repertoire. Through his Harmonious Thelonious project, he has spent the past dozen years exploring the worlds of Pan-African, South American and Middle Eastern rhythms in combination with a minimalistic electronic sound, distilling his very own groove from the point at which they converge. His new album – challengingly entitled "Cheapo Sounds" – sees Schwander move away from tried and trusted recipes.
